Special Courses


Junior High English Skills
This is an enrichment English class designed for the student who needs additional study in the basic skills of English. Students focus on spelling, grammar and punctuation. The students also work on essential writing skills such as complete sentences, verbal
usage, and paragraph structure.

Junior High Math Skills
This is an enrichment Math class designed for students who need additional study in the four fundamental mathematical operations. Multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. They will also study simple fractions and decimals.

High School English Skills

Students focus on reading skills such as getting the main ideas, drawing conclusions and making inferences. The students also review essential writing skills and learn organizational skills that will better prepare them for high school.

High School Math Skills

This course prepares students for high school level Algebra I by highlighting traditional problem areas including fractions, decimals, percents, and the metric system.

Dates and Times
School will be held from June 1, 2000 to June 29, 2000. Classes will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. everyday M-F with a 30 minute lunch break at 11:15 a.m. There will be no breakfast or lunch served. However, there will be vending machines available. Semester one material will be covered from June 1st to June 15th (11 days). Second semester work will be covered from June 16th through June 29th (10 days). No more than one excused absence is allowed.

Cost
Tuition for the classes is $175 for 1/2 unit (one semester) or $300 for one full unit (full year). This cost includes textbooks. The summer school fees must be paid by 3:00 p.m. May 31, 2000. NO refunds will be given.

Dress
While dress is casual, it should be modest and reflect Christian values. Examples of inappropriate dress would include halter tops, tank tops, short-short skirts or pants, T-shirts with any of the following: crude language or art work, depictions of violence, alcohol or cigarette advertisement, references to drugs.

Accreditation
Holy Cross Summer School classes meet all the basic class-hour requirements established by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department. Holy Cross High School is fully accredited by the TCCED.
