Remembering Aaron

Aaron was born on December 18, 1976, and would have turned 47 years old this December. Although he passed away 30 years ago, his memory lives on. Aaron grew up in a single-parent household after losing his father at the age of three. Despite this, he took on the role of a leader in his home as he matured. At a young age, Aaron discovered his faith in Christ and learned about the goodness and love of God. Before his freshman year at Holy Cross, Aaron attended Lakeview Baptist School and Longfellow Middle School. One Friday morning . . .

Real Learning

Brother Rene once told us during a sophomore Biology class, “Never let a teacher or a book get in the way of your education.”  At the time, this wisdom was wasted on a room full of confused 16-year-olds who had spent most of their education adhering to the strictures of uncompromising nuns, religious brothers, priests, and good old-fashioned parents.  The idea that there was an education that could be gleaned outside of religious doctrines, scientific formulas, mathematical equations, historical analyses, or the . . .

Buena Gente

Apr 23, 2020

A few years ago Augie Cerna ’65 came up to me after a softball playoff game in Three Rivers and offered his congratulations.  I told him how much we appreciated his making the trip to support us, after all he had no immediate family on the team and Three Rivers is over an hour away from San Antonio. He then handed me $100 and told me to get the girls something on the way home.  Augie has since shown his generosity since that first time in Three Rivers a couple of more times after playoff games.   His . . .

THE PLAN Holy Cross teachers are ready to implement instruction in a manner that includes online Apex . . .
