Where Rivalries are Built

In high school football, rivalries aren't born overnight; they're built through grit, competition, and mutual respect. For Holy Cross, Friday’s matchup against Dallas First Baptist has quickly become that. A new rivalry built on the foundation of challenge and pride. Once defined by battles against programs like Devine and Hondo, Holy Cross now finds itself in the midst of something just as meaningful: a modern measuring stick against one of TAPPS’ premier teams. In its second straight year, . . .

Knights Handle Business in Corpus

Oct 12, 2025

Holy Cross treated their Friday night trip to Corpus Christi like exactly what it was — a business trip. And they handled business in a dominant fashion. The Knights extended their win streak to five with a commanding 51-2 win over John Paul II, improving to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in district play. From the opening drive, Holy Cross looked locked in and in control, building a 23-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looking back. Senior running back Taylor Flores set the tone again, breaking . . .

Business Trip to Corpus

Oct 10, 2025

After taking care of business in Boerne, the Holy Cross Knights (4-2,2-0) are headed south to Corpus Christi for another key district matchup, this time against the John Paul II Centurions (1-4,0-0). It's a classic business trip game: handle the travel, stay locked in, and keep the winning streak alive. The Knights come in with momentum on both sides of the ball. Senior running back Taylor Flores, fresh off his Player of the Game performance and San Antonio Gunslingers Player of the Week, has been . . .

Showdown in Boerne

Oct 3, 2025

Everything in TAPPS Division III District 3 has been building up to this. Tonight, Holy Cross (3-2, 1-0) hits the road to face Boerne Geneva (4-1, 1-0) in a matchup that could very well decide the district title. Both teams come in rolling, both have weapons all over the field, and both know what's at stake. Win this one, and you're in the driver's seat for the district crown.  For Holy Cross, the timing feels right. The Knights have won three straight, including last week’s dominant 42-7 . . .

Back at the 426

Sep 26, 2025

After four straight games on the road, the Holy Cross Knights finally return home, and they couldn't have picked a better night to do it. Friday night marks homecoming night at The 426 and kicks off district play as the Knights (2-2) host the New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats (4-0).  Holy Cross enters this matchup with momentum. After dropping their first two games, the Knights bounced back with statement wins over Central Catholic and Weimar, showing they can win with both . . .

Building Momentum

Sep 21, 2025

The Holy Cross Knights are starting to build something. After opening the season 0-2, the Knights have now won back-to-back games, including Friday night’s 38-16 road victory over the Weimar Wildcats. It was the type of performance that showed not just flashes of potential, but the ability to execute for four quarters against a physical, grind-it-out opponent. From the opening drive, Holy Cross made it clear they weren’t going to back down. Sophomore . . .

All Knights. All Night.

Sep 14, 2025

On Friday night, Holy Cross walked into the Holy Bowl with a 0-2 record and plenty of doubters. They walked out with bragging rights, again. For the sixth straight meeting, the Knights took down Central Catholic, proving once more that the rivalry has shifted and the small school from the West Side is no longer an underdog, but a force.  From the opening whistle, it was all Knights, all night . Holy Cross controlled the tempo on both sides of the ball, leaning on their punishing . . .

Bragging Rights. Legacy. The Holy Bowl.

Sep 11, 2025

Few games in San Antonio capture history, pride, and rivalry like the Holy Bowl. When Holy Cross and Central Catholic meet, it’s more than football. It’s about tradition and community, and writing the next chapter in a story that spans generations.  The rivalry that started sixty-one years ago in 1963 began with Central’s size and depth giving them the early advantage. By the time of their first meeting, Central had already been established nearly a decade longer . . .

Heartbreaker in Week 2

Sep 7, 2025

Holy Cross came up short Friday night in a back-and-forth battle on the road, falling to San Antonio Christian, 36-33. The Knights produced a stronger offensive outing, but late-game opportunities slipped away in a contest that featured momentum swings from start to finish.  The Knights opened with confidence, striking first on the ground behind senior RB Taylor Flores, who punched in two first-half rushing touchdowns. Sophomore QB Rocky Orozco added to the fast start, rolling out and finding senior . . .

Bounce-Back Opportunity

Both Holy Cross and San Antonio Christian enter week 2 still searching for their first win of the season, setting the stage for a competitive Friday night matchup between two programs eager to respond after tough openers.      The Knights came up just short in their rivalry matchup with Antonian, falling 27–20 in a back-and-forth game. Sophomore quarterback Rocky Orozco (‘28) impressed in his varsity debut, totaling three touchdowns and nearly 200 yards of offense, while . . .

Knights Fall Short vs. Antonian

Aug 31, 2025

Holy Cross came up short Friday night in one of San Antonio’s most storied private school rivalries, falling to Antonian by a score of 20-27. The Knights fought to the end, but a handful of key second-half plays from the Apaches proved to be the difference. From the opening kickoff, the game carried the intensity expected from a Holy Cross - Antonian matchup. The Apaches started the night scoring first on a 5-yard touchdown to go up 6-0. The Knights followed and took the lead after ‘28 QB . . .

All In, All Over Again

The Holy Cross Knights are coming off their best season in school history, finishing 2024 at 13-1 overall and 5-0 in district play. Along the way, they notched several statement wins — a dominant Week 1 victory over Antonian (51-21), a Holy Bowl classic against Central Catholic (35-17), and a definitive upset over defending Division IV state champion Dallas First Baptist Academy (34-14). The Knights averaged 45.4 points per game on offense while allowing just 9.3 across 14 games. That dominance carried into the . . .
