LCpl. Mark David Juarez Scholarship

In honor of the memory of Mark David Juarez, '05, a scholarship in his name is offered to a current senior in the amount of $4,000 to be used for Holy Cross of San Antonio tuition. 

Mark David appeared shy until you got to know him, then he was funny and outgoing. His approach to life was, "The bigger, the better!". Mark David's motto was, "Live life to the fullest. Make everyday matter. Live each day as it was your last. Don't regret anything you do. The rules I live by."

Mark David was a person who would stand back, out of the limelight, so that others could shine. He was humble in character and faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

LCpl. Mark David Juarez served his first combat deployment in 2008 in Iraq. On January 9, 2010, LCpl. Mark David Juarez, USMC, made the ultimate sacrifice while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and serving combat operation Helmand Province, Afghanistan……….fighting for Peace.

Scholarship. The recipient of this scholarship will be announced on December 12, 2023. 

 

Scholarship Criteria Overview:

  1. The student must be currently enrolled at Holy Cross in their Senior year.

  2. Military families are encouraged to apply along with all others with a military connection.

  3. The student must be in good standing, determined by the school.

  4. The student must have at least a 2.5 GPA

  5. The student must be current with Christian Service hours as determined by the school.

  6. The student must be involved in at least one school extra-curricular activity throughout the year in which the scholarship is awarded.

  7. Applicants are required to have their essay reviewed by English Department Head, Mrs. Patricia Yznaga no later than the week before Thanksgiving Break.
