A Night to Remember
Recapping Holy Cross' Shutout Win vs JP II Schertz
There are wins and then there are moments that mean more than the scoreboard ever could. On Senior Night, Holy Cross delivered both.
Behind a dominant 47–0 victory over John Paul II Schertz, the Knights closed out their final home game of the regular season in front of a packed, energized crowd at 426 N San Felipe. It was the kind of night every senior dreams of, where hard work, belief, and brotherhood all come together under the lights.
Four seniors found the end zone, marking a fitting tribute to a class that has carried this team through its share of adversity. Running back Taylor Flores led the way with 98 yards on nine carries, including a 6-yard touchdown run that set the tone early. Julian “J.R.” Salas was electric once again, scoring two touchdowns, while Diego Flores added a 7-yard touchdown reception and Andrew Rodriguez capped the night with a highlight 39-yard score.
From the opening drive to the final whistle, Holy Cross controlled the pace in all three phases: offense, defense, and special teams. The Knights’ defense pitched a shutout, flying to the ball, forcing stops, and keeping JPII’s offense off rhythm all night long.
But beyond the numbers, Friday was about reflection and pride. For the 19 seniors, this was more than just a win; it was a celebration of everything they’ve poured into the program. The long practices, the early mornings, the injuries, and the grind. Every rep led to this moment.
And for the Holy Cross community, it was a reminder of the spirit that defines the program: resilient, faithful, and united.
With the victory, Holy Cross still controls its destiny. A win next week against Hill Country Christian School of Austin would secure a home playoff game, keeping the Knights’ postseason hopes alive and strong.
But on this night, the focus wasn’t on what’s next; it was on the moment. A night where the seniors shined, the crowd roared, and Holy Cross football reminded everyone what it means to play for each other.
Because this wasn’t just a win. It was a night to remember.
